Just a quick note on this one; UK postcode look-ups do not work through the Google Maps API so if you are attempting to use UK postcode lookups through the last Google Maps example using the RichFaces library and it's not working correctly then rest assured you aren't doing anything wrong. Due to the restrictive licensing on the postcode and address files, it is not possible to search by postcode using the Google maps API. There are ways around this, but they sort of break the nice JSF way of doing things so I'll leave that as an exercise for you if you're really that interested in doing it.
